“One might think one was in New York” commented Masterton excitedly as we gazed through the floor to ceiling windows at the towering buildings of glass and steel. Indeed he was right, it was a glorious view from the restaurant and we were here at Canary Wharf because a bargain was to be had. The paucity of workers in the Summer months means that special offers abound and for 25 guineas a head we were celebrating your Doctor’s birthday. Three courses and a glass of champagne to boot in this upmarket eatery, this is a real winner!
One started with a rabbit salad, followed by confit of duck and puy lentils, then finished with raspberries with a raspberry jelly. Every mouthful was delicious! What a fine institution this restaurant is. It has a refined, yet modern casual atmosphere. The staff are all friendly and welcoming and the food is marvellous. Your Doctor has eaten here before and wonders why this has not been a more frequent occurrence. Fortescue, who was also with the party was his usual self and munched away quietly. The Inscrutable One seemed fairly pleased with his Ham Hock and main course of salmon which is high praise. However, his greatest joy was to spin round on his swivel chair to take in the view of the “city”. This was all washed down with a fine Muscadet de Sevres et Maine (sur lie of course) and a superb Chianti classico. Your Doctor will be back. Please do not join him! Priveé!
