The Negroni
This is your Doctor’s favourite and should be served with lots of ice in a highball glass. One has also found that a drop of angostura bitters does not go amiss in this wonderful concoction.
- 1 part Gin
- 1 Part Sweet Vermouth
- 1 part Campari
The Dry Martini
Gin – Tanqueray Ten mes amis! and a wave over the glass of the Noilly Prat. Shaken with lots of ice and poured into a chilled Martini glass. Garnish with an obligatory Olive. Heaven! Measures? Bah!
The Old Pal
- 2 parts rye whiskey
- 1 parts dry vermouth
- 1 parts Campari
Vin d’orange
An interesting french concotion which one found served in Brasserie Zedel in London.
750 ml. rosé wine
1/2 cup vodka
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 vanilla bean, split lengthwise
1 cinnamon stick
2 navel oranges, quartered
1 lemon, quartered
Tools: large glass jar with lid
Combine all ingredients in a large glass jar, cover and let stand in a cool, dark place for up to two weeks shaking every few days. Strain through cheesecloth and funnel into clean glass bottles. Cork and refrigerate for up to one year. (recipe taken from Imbibe Magazine web site)
