One has revisited Grumbles which one has previously reviewed so here is a brief overview of one’s latest visit. It is indeed a very good value, local eatery where the quality of the food is above what one would expect for the price. Lunch is £10.75 for two courses or £13.25 for three. Accompanied by one’s chums Mr. Pigeon, Buckshot and old chum Pettigrew, the conversation flowed freely, as did the wine.
The tomato soup was excellent and tasted very fresh and bursting with the flavour of ripe, sunkissed tomatos. Mr Pigeon later mentioned that his seafood salad starter was not so good. For your doctor, the highlight was the oven-roasted mackerel which was excellent and accompanied by roast potatoes. Methinks that one might have some greenery with this dish if chosen again. Mr Pigeon and Buckshot chose the mushroom tagliatelle of which they seemed to approve. Finally it was cheese and biscuits which one hopes came from the nearby Rippon Cheese shop which is a delight to visit and even more delightful to savour its fine cheeses. The convivial atmosphere and tasty dishes made this a truly enjoyable visit. One will return ‘ere long.

The mackeral was indeed wonderful, we helped it swim towards our stomachs with some excellent wines too. Having a doctor along when one is consuming so many courses is always advisable…
Mr Pigeon was most pleased with the meal. It was just a perfect prescription for an afternoon with friends. Consignment winging it’s way as I write.
