Konnichiwa! Your Doctor is expanding his boundaries! Now dear readers, one knows that this might upset some of you to find that the Doctor is deserting a tried and trusted path but your Doctor recently took his repast at a Japanese restaurant. Now, one knows this must come as a shock. No doubt one has a definite view of your Doctor’s catholic but refined taste but in this case, the Doctor was not paying and so it seemed churlish to refuse an invitation from Woodford-Smythe to join him. So it was, that in this upmarket street just off the bustling heart of Mayfair that the Doctor found himself being greeted by a waving cat and some friendly, welcoming staff. See one’s daguerreotype below.
Now, your Doctor is not unaccustomed to oriental cuisine having visited Asia on many occasions. Nevertheless, one selected the safe option of the “Lunch Box Set menu” which comprised Miso soup, sashimi, tempura prawns/vegetables, raw vegetables and salad. It was delightfully presented and served with the usual Japanese reverence. The food seemed bland at lacking flavour, especially the subtleties of the fish. It’s saving grace was that it was ….very…very …. healthy! But for some reason, it didn’t quite hit the spot, despite the good company of Woodford-Smythe and his wallet. The sashimi seemed tasteless and overall maybe the lunch box was not a good choice. If one visits again then maybe it might be for dinner and some more substantial fare. Your doctor is therefore undecided, but one must make a decision and thus, as a luncheon spot, the Doctor suggests that one should probably visit other establishments for luncheon unless Japanese is all you eat.
